Symmetry Medical Releases New Drill for THA Procedures

Release is part of company's goal to expand proprietary medical device solutions sales opportunites.

Warsaw, Ind.-based Symmetry Medical Inc., which makes medical devices such as surgical instruments, orthopedic implants and sterilization cases and trays, has launched the Dual Connection Offset Acetabular Reamer Driver through its OEM Solutions team.

Symmetry’s new Dual Connection Offset Acetabular Reamer Driver is designed for use in total hip arthroplasty (THA) surgery to introduce acetabular reamers to the hip joint and to enhance visibility in minimally invasive procedures such as the direct anterior approach. The driver features a patented drive shaft assembly designed and tested to meet the demands of THA surgery. The product’s reported highlights include:

  • Improved access to the acetabulum due to the low-profile reamer/driver connection;
  • Design that allows easy disassembly to facilitate the cleaning and sterilization of the internal components;
  • An ergonomic silicone over-molded stabilization handle; and
  • Compatibility with Symmetry’s flagship 420SS Acetabular Reamers as well as the Low-Profile Parabolic Reamers.

Barrett also notes that this product release is part of Symmetry’s plan to expand its OEM Solutions sales opportunities via the use of its own proprietary medical device solutions.
